LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. — A tragic accident took place in Liberty County on Thursday night when a truck fatally struck a pedestrian. The incident led to the unfortunate demise of the pedestrian, marking a somber moment for the community.
The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported that they were called to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Airport Road, near State Route 196. The preliminary investigation has revealed that an individual, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, ventured onto the road in an area lacking proper lighting and was subsequently hit by a Dodge Ram.
As the investigation proceeds, the identity of the deceased pedestrian remains undisclosed as authorities are working to notify the next of kin. No further details regarding the identification or the state of the truck driver have been released at this time.
The Georgia State Patrol is now handling the investigation to fully determine the sequence of events leading up to the fatal incident.
