SAVANNAH, Ga. – A Savannah Police Department officer sustained injuries following a collision on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred near the intersection of Montgomery Street and Victory Drive in Savannah, Georgia, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
According to witness accounts, the accident involved a police cruiser and a black SUV. Bystanders reported that the officer in the patrol car was visibly hurt and unable to move immediately following the crash.
A local resident, Roberta King, stepped in to assist the injured officer before emergency services arrived. She recounted her efforts to provide comfort, stating that the officer was concerned for the welfare of the other driver involved. King assured the officer and kept him calm until further assistance reached the scene.
The current condition of the officer and any other individuals involved in the incident has not been disclosed. The Savannah Police Department is expected to issue a statement with additional details and the status of those affected by the accident.
