Car accident in Savannah

Statesboro, GA (June 16, 2024) – A major collision on Interstate 16 near mile marker 135.5 involving a school bus and two other vehicles resulted in multiple injuries on Friday, June 14. A car following an SUV too closely caused a chain-reaction crash when it collided with the rear of the SUV. The force of the collision propelled both vehicles off the road, where they subsequently struck a stationary school bus with students on board.

The bus was carrying students from Oklahoma who were on their way to a convention in Savannah. Seven individuals, including two students from the SUV, were taken to the hospital with injuries. The two students sustained serious injuries, while others aboard the bus suffered minor injuries. Local authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the exact cause and any contributing factors.
