A fatal collision occurred in the early hours of Friday morning in Atlanta, resulting in the death of a male pedestrian. The incident took place at the intersection of Moreland Ave SE and McPherson Ave SE, where Atlanta Police Department officials responded to the call. It was around 1:48 am on April 19 when the accident was reported, leading to the deployment of emergency services to the scene.
Upon preliminary examination, it was determined that the pedestrian, whose identity has been kept confidential pending notification of next of kin, entered the roadway into the path of an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the car, identified as a female, was reportedly adhering to the traffic signals and had the green light as she approached the intersection. The ensuing impact rendered the pedestrian unresponsive and despite prompt medical attention, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by officials from the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s office.
The driver involved in this incident stayed at the location and has been fully cooperative with the investigative efforts of the police. Currently, no charges have been brought forward as the investigation is active. The Atlanta Police Department’s Accident Investigations Unit is probing deeper into the event to discern the series of occurrences that led to the fatality.
