In a heartbreaking incident on Friday night in Atlanta, a 36-year-old motorcyclist lost his life following a high-speed collision with an automobile. The crash, which occurred at the intersection of Greenbriar Parkway SW and Continental Colony Parkway SW, was responded to by Atlanta Police at approximately 11:08 p.m. The male motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene, while a gravely injured passenger who had been riding with him was rushed to Grady Hospital for emergent treatment.
Investigators from the Accident Investigations Unit are meticulously working to understand the events that led to the tragic collision between the Honda CR-V and the Kawasaki motorcycle. Preliminary reports suggest that the Honda CR-V was in the process of making a northbound turn onto Greenbriar Parkway SW, from Continental Colony Parkway SW, when the southbound motorcycle struck the turning vehicle.
However, additional reporting indicates that the motorcyclist may have been lane splitting at a high speed, a factor that would have contributed to the collision as the Honda attempted its left turn. The 29-year-old female driver of the Honda CR-V sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
