ATLANTA, GA – Traffic flow on Interstate 85 has resumed following a temporary closure precipitated by a vehicular collision involving a fire engine from the Atlanta Fire Department. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the interstate, just short of the connecting exit for Buford Highway.
The fire engine implicated in the crash has been identified as Truck No. 29. Though details surrounding the cause of the incident have yet to be released, investigation efforts were underway as Atlanta police and crime scene analysts were documented at the scene.
While emergency crews and towing services worked to clear the site, including the loading of the damaged fire engine onto a tow vehicle, the interstate experienced a shutdown lasting roughly one hour. No reports detailing potential injuries or additional vehicles involved have been made available at this time.
This disruption caused significant traffic delays during the early morning, a period typically lighter in vehicle congestion. However, with the reopening of the interstate, the flow of traffic has returned to normal conditions.
