Car accident in Atlanta

In a tragic incident late Sunday night in Atlanta, authorities are actively looking for the perpetrator of a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on the I-75/I-85 connector.

The Atlanta Police were dispatched to the scene of the collision on the northbound lanes of I-85 near the 17th Street exit at approximately 11:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a critically injured individual, the driver of a Kia Optima. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Through preliminary investigations, law enforcement officials have determined that a Chevrolet Suburban driver was navigating the split between I-75 and I-85 northbound when they veered across the gore point and onto I-85, where they subsequently struck the Kia Optima, which was stationed on the right shoulder of the highway.

The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban did not remain at the scene and has since been the subject of a citywide manhunt. The police have not yet released a description of the suspect or their vehicle and are calling on witnesses or anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The Atlanta Police Department continues to gather evidence and work to establish the sequence of events leading up to the devastating crash. They are examining traffic camera footage and conducting interviews with potential eyewitnesses to piece together the details of this fatal encounter.
