WARREN COUNTY, Ga. – A tragic accident on Interstate 20 in Warren County has resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man. The collision occurred when a 2008 Grey BMW, driven by Nathaniel Jones, struck the back of a tractor-trailer near mile marker 154. According to officials, the heavy vehicle had decelerated due to a tree obstructing the roadway.
Jones was declared deceased at the accident site. The McDuffie County Coroner’s Office attended the scene to assist, as the Warren County Coroner’s Office was unavailable at the moment of the incident. The situation led to traffic interruptions on I-20 as authorities conducted their preliminary investigations into the crash.
The Georgia State Patrol is now handling the investigation and has initiated inquiries to determine the specific cause of the crash. As of this report, no other injuries have been reported. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads, particularly when encountering unexpected obstacles such as fallen trees.
The identity of the tractor-trailer driver has not been disclosed, and it is unclear whether any charges will be filed in connection with the incident. Traffic flow on the interstate has since been restored, but the Georgia State Patrol reminds motorists to remain vigilant and maintain safe following distances to prevent similar tragedies.
