In Burke County, Georgia, a potentially tragic car accident turned into a story of heroism as five University of Georgia sorority sisters saved a mother and her two children from a sinking SUV. The women were traveling from Athens to Savannah for a weekend trip when they witnessed a vehicle veering off the road and into a creek.
The dramatic rescue occurred last Friday when the SUV, carrying a mother and her two children, plunged 135 feet into a creek and began to sink. The sorority sisters, who were originally headed for a fun getaway, promptly halted their journey to provide immediate assistance.
Upon observing the white SUV departing from the roadway and toppling into the creek, the five women stopped their vehicle quickly. They got out of their car and rushed towards the crash site without any hesitation. The group ventured into the water and successfully extracted the driver and the two children from the submerged vehicle, potentially saving their lives.
The mother involved in the crash, Cori Craft, later recounted the horrifying experience of losing control of her vehicle during the rainy conditions. With her car stopped in the water, her sole focus was to ensure the safety of her children. The brave sorority sisters managed to free the 8-year-old quickly, but the younger son, at the age of four, was underwater for several minutes before they could rescue him as well.
