ATLANTA – Monday afternoon saw a significant collision in downtown Atlanta involving a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) bus and a passenger vehicle. The incident occurred near Interstate 20 West and Windsor Street, impacting traffic in the surrounding area.
The Georgia State Patrol reported that the crash transpired when a silver Chevrolet Equinox, exiting Interstate 20 onto Windsor Street, failed to yield to the oncoming MARTA bus. The circumstances leading up to the crash are currently under investigation.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox required immediate medical attention and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Additionally, nine individuals on the MARTA bus, comprising of eight adults and one child, also sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Emory Midtown Hospital for treatment.
While the nature and extent of the injuries have not been disclosed, emergency services responded swiftly to provide aid to those affected by the accident.
