GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A tragic incident occurred at the Mall of Georgia parking lot when a juvenile was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday, Gwinnett County Police Department officials reported.
The accident happened in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods just after 4 p.m., where officers were dispatched following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car. Emergency services rushed the young victim to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta – Egleston; however, the juvenile succumbed to their injuries and was declared deceased. Details about the victim’s age and whether they were a child or teenager have not been disclosed.
In the same incident, two other individuals sustained injuries and were transported to Northside Hospital Lawrenceville. The injuries were identified as non-life-threatening, according to law enforcement statements.
Details regarding the circumstances that led to the accident have yet to be clarified by investigating authorities. However, the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and has been reported as cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation.
